
Colin Darke is a writer, artist, and attorney based in Detroit, Michigan. In addition being a PLAYGROUND DETROIT contributor, Colin stays busy writing for the influential Brooklyn-based art blog, Hyperallergic and The Huffington Post. He has also written for the Art:21 Blog, part of the Peabody Award winning PBS: Art in the 21st Century project. Colin is also the Editor-in-Chief of the cultural webzines TheDetroiter.com and
In describing his art, The Detroit News has said that Colin employs, “a bold, colorful style, reminiscent of the German Expressionists.” A 2009 MacArthur Fellow selected one of Colin’s pieces for the 18th Annual National Juried Exhibition at the Bowery Gallery in New York City. Colin holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in watercolor painting from Western Michigan University as well as a Juris Doctor, with honors, from Michigan State University College of Law, and a Masters in Banking and Financial Law from Boston University School of Law.
